I am proud to say I have
lived the blues. I was born and raised in the poverty
stricken "Swamp" area of Indianapolis, In., I grew up
working my dads used TV repair-furniture store (situated between
The Oxford Inn and the Wheeler mission.) and hustling at Flea
markets. I took over my big brothers guitar at age 10 and did my
1st gig at a 7th grade sock hop. Dad always let my bands practice
in the attic of his repair shop for years.
I have played lead guitar in Sleprock, The Cruisematics, The
Headhunters, The Shifters, The Indianapolis Blues band and The
Michigan St. Blues Band to name a few.
I first heard some live blues when I happened to take a bus
downtown and was just walking around when I heard some music
comming out of this church basement, I went on in and there was
the Heasitation blues band tearing it up. I sat there stunned as
Tad Robinson and Tommy Gun jammed the blues for about 12 lucky
fans. I bought my 1st Muddy Waters album soon after that. I got
my start in blues bands when harmonica player Jay Stein ( Indpls,
In.) asked me to play back up guitar for the late great "Lefty
" Leroy Bates, I have opened up for Edgar Winter and 38
Special, and jamed at Chubbys Club Lasalle with west coast blues
man James Harman, and twice won honerable mention at the BSI
talent contest.
Some of my favorite guitar players are Al Blake, Ronnie Earl,
Little Charlie, Jimmie Vaughn and west coast swing king Hollywood
Fats. Rock on brothers ans sisters!
